 Why Spices?

 As a Pharmacist of 15 years Dr. Flava witnessed the severe health decline of many patients; faced  with diseases that are preventable. Disease like diabetes affects over 34 million Americans, while hypertension affects 108 million and  93 million are affected by high cholesterol. Her increasing passion to educate the public ignited with the creation of DR FLAVA SPICES®; realizing health begins in the kitchen. Trying to figure out how to eat healthier can be challenging and many believe it lacks Flava. That's where our spices come in to save the day.



Mission: To make DR FLAVA SPICES the preferred healthy seasoning experience for our Flava Foodies, by flavafully  transforming their food and shifting their mindsets, empowering them to proactively Health themselves! 

Vision: A world where wellness and the kitchen collide globally empowering the community to control their health narrative by leading the conversation rediscovering that health begins in the kitchen!

Her Inspiration

Dr. Tremaine was richly inspired by her  grandmother and mother who taught her many culinary skills, which ignited her passion at an early age. She admired that, both her mother and grandmother were smart, educated and successful women who could 'through down" in the kitchen. Back in college, she was known to take canned food, boxed food, even cafeteria food, and whip up something amazing!  Over time she began to put her own twist on dishes, which created a different outcome from her mother and grandmother. Realizing food just requires the right flavas and technique!

Our Journey

Deciding to make a difference, Dr. Tremaine used her innovations, talents, and dreams in a start-up catering business in 2014, focusing on healthy, yet very tasty cuisines with a soaring rate of success. But one day looked at her cabinet that was filled with a variety of spices and herbs  just to make her food taste amazing. She thought, this is why people don't enjoy cooking and choose to eat out which can be unhealthy, but when you cook at home you can control the amount of sugar, fat & salt.

It was December 2016 she embarked on creating her own seasonings, with just two flavas then she bottled them up and gave as Christmas gifts to close family and friends. Shortly after, DR FLAVA SPICES® was launched in March 2017 and is becoming a household name bringing life to foods with recipes and fast meal prep techniques helping busy moms, novice, families, and foodies to make healthy cooking choices that become mouthwatering meals -  Just what the DOCTOR ORDERED! 

Being a creative foodie, Dr. Tremaine continued to expand her line of seasonings adding more flavas each year and created 13 amazing Flavas. Currently DR FLAVA SPICES® has 8 amazing Flavas, some are seasonally available offering both lower sodium and salt-free options. DR FLAVA SPICES® are for all cooking styles, Vegans, Pescatarian, and Vegetarian dishes. Our spices sodium content ranges between 85mg to 100mg of sodium per serving as compared to commercial store bought that has between 350mg to 500mg. DR flava Spices are all-natural, contain NO MSG, Sugar-Free and Gluten Free.

Dr. Tremaine Jones Afetorgbor, well known as “Dr. Flava The Wellness Foodie Pharmacist” is the highly sought after Wellness Expert.  As CEO of the healthy all-natural seasoning line DR FLAVA SPICES®, her mission is to help you rediscover health begins in the kitchen!  Dr. Flava The Wellness Foodie Pharmacist is a 2004 graduate of the esteemed HBCU Xavier University of Louisiana, she is also a wife and mother of two children.
Dr. Flava credits a strong relationship with God, supportive family and a commitment to serving as empowering her mission. She is leading the charge for a healthier future. Dr. Flava’s passion is evident and the results are clear that you can eat your way to a life of health and great tasting foods. In April 2020, Dr. Flava released her first published book, “The Pharmacist Guide: How to Health Yourself” as an obtainable method for creating healthier habits in our daily lives. Once asked about the book, she remarked, “I was led to write this book, after years of witnessing more individuals diagnosed with preventable diseases requiring prescription drugs and also realizing there is no quick fix to health but applying simple life-lasting changes is critical.
